As a island community, Ocracoke depends heavily on the support of volunteer-based organizations to provided services and goods specific to island needs. Click on the red links to learn more about each organization.

Ocracoke Preservation Society, Inc. - dedicated to the preservation of Ocracoke Island's rich historical and cultural heritage, OPS offers an island museum, as well as an online gift shop.

Ocracoke Foundation, Inc. -  promotes community revitalization through the responsible  use of Ocracoke’s assets.

Ocracats, Inc. -  works to keep the island’s feral cat population healthy and under control by offering spaying and neutering services.

Ocracoke Fire Protection Association, Inc. - provides volunteer-based fire protection for the island and raises money for needed supplies and equipment.

Ocracoke Community Radio, Inc – WOVV 90.1 FM -  Real-time, Ocracoke-specific radio for island residents and visitors.

 Ocracoke Alive - promotes cultural and educational awareness with plays, music, festivals, etc.

Ocracoke Civic and Business Association - The official travel and tourism site for Ocracoke Island.

Ocracoke Working Watermen’s Association - raises awareness of Ocracoke's historic trade of commercial fishing and works to ensure the profession remains profitable and prominent on the island.
