Public Hearing Update: Duck Blind Safe Distance Legislation

03/02/2019 - The Hyde County Board of Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing in conjunction with their regular meeting on Monday, March 4, 2019, at 6 p.m. at the Hyde County Government Center and Ocracoke Community Center. The intent of the public hearing is to take public comment on draft legislation regulating matters in regard to migratory wild waterfowl hunting within permanent established hunting locations using blinds, floats, rafts, mats, or other buoyant craft. The draft legislation can be reviewed at http://www.hydecountync.gov/newsdetail_T73_R2006.php

The Hyde County Board of Commissioners have already received a great deal of public comment and while they believe attention and potential regulation is needed in regard to wild waterfowl hunting, they will not have a vote to support or promote the draft legislation as presented. The group will hear public comment and discuss a path moving forward towards a solution that takes all user groups and stakeholder needs into account.

If you would like to submit public comment and can not attend the Public Hearing, please email those comments to [email protected] Those comments will be provided to all board members and the Hyde County Manager and considered moving forward.
