3/26/15 The NC Rural Center and Hyde County invite you to attend a Disaster Resiliency Workshop on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in Swan Quarter.
The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Hyde County Government Center Multipurpose Room located at 30 Oyster Creek Rd. in Swan Quarter. Hyde County, NC Sea Grant, the NC Coastal Federation, the NC Division of Soil and Water Conservation, and the NC Rural Center have teamed up to deliver this important workshop.
A unique feature of the April 21st training will be a tour of Hyde County's extensive Dike System and other local mitigation efforts that have been taken to prevent flooding. A complete description of the workshop, guest speakers, and agenda is available here.
For several years our communities across North Carolina have seen a marked increase in storm related disasters and the amount of devastation they inflict. Because of this, our communities must be prepared for whatever may happen next and cannot let down our guard. Attend this workshop to learn how to be better prepared – it’s not a matter of IF, it’s a matter of WHEN your community will face such a challenge.
This Disaster Resiliency Workshop is an excellent resource for volunteers, government officials, local board members, citizens and representatives of fire departments, schools, community organizations, as well as relief organizations — in other words, anyone involved in disaster preparation and relief efforts.
Please RSVP to Rosemary Johnson (252-926-4474) or email email@example.com by 5:00 p.m. on April 15th. Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge.
