Over the past year, the Task Force stakeholders have met monthly to form a plan to combat the substance abuse epidemic in our area. Through these meetings, we have formed partnerships with our citizens, surrounding counties, and other entities involved in treating and preventing substance abuse. The Task Force has already implemented some of the plans that we came up within our meetings and are planning to implement more in the coming year.
Plans already in place

Drug take-back events have been held on the mainland and Ocracoke
Naloxone (overdose reversal medicine) has been dispersed in the communities, to EMS, first responders, and the Sheriff's Department
Law Enforcement has established a presence in the community, engaging with kids on the street and at events
A syringe exchange program has been implemented
Mental health first aid
